Justin is a Senior Director in Capstone’s Private Capital Markets group. He brings over 15 years of experience executing M&A and capital markets transactions in the Aerospace & Defense industry, where he has led or supported over $10B of total deal sizes. Prior to joining Capstone, Justin founded the Aerospace & Defense practice at a middle market boutique investment bank, having spent most of his career in corporate development, leading M&A and strategy for AeroVironment, Elbit Systems and Northrop Grumman.

After graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy and prior to his career in finance, Justin served for 10 years as a US Navy SEAL officer, with multi-deployments to 3 different continents.

Amir Ghavi leads Fried Frank’s technology practice, where he advises clients on technology and IP matters, with a focus on disruptive technologies. Amir is recognized as a leading legal practitioner in AI, where he is chief outside counsel for major generative AI companies such as Stability AI (the company behind Stable Diffusion), Cohere, Picsart and others. Additionally he advises Fortune500 companies on their use and governance of AI and counsels governments on their AI policies and regulatory frameworks.

Amir is uniquely positioned as an authority in the field of AI and law where he counsels on regulatory, product development, commercial aspects and most notably, is defending the AI technology in several of the biggest litigations in the field of AI.

He is a frequent speaker, panelist and commentator on AI, informed by his software experience and academic background in neuroscience and philosophy. He trains other lawyers on the legal and practical issues of the technology, teaching at leading legal education institutes and providing bespoke continuing legal education seminars for clients of the Firm. He is a resource for various media outlets including the Wall St. Journal, New York Times, MIT Technology Review, WIRED Magazine, Billboard Magazine and others on topics of AI and technology. He also pursues collaborations between academia, industry and law, advising non-profits and think-tanks and also lecturing at Cornell Tech and MIT Sloan on technical, policy and social implications of AI use.
